08/05/2026, 13:30The off-site session of the international scientific and expert forum ‘Primakov Readings’ is being held at Issyk-Kul for the first time. This was announced by Fyodor Voitolovsky, Director of the E. M. Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to him, holding the event in Kyrgyzstan will enable local economists, political scientists, diplomats and practitioners to be involved in discussions on pressing international issues.
“For us, this is an opportunity to find out how the modern system of international relations and the state of the global economy are viewed in Kyrgyzstan, as well as to familiarise our Kyrgyz colleagues with the assessments of the Russian academic and expert community”, — noted Voitolovsky.
The ‘Primakov Lectures’ is an annual forum dedicated to issues of the global economy, international politics and security. It has been held for over ten years and is regarded as one of the largest expert platforms of its kind in Russia. It is organised by IMEMO of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The forum’s off-site sessions have been taking place for nine years now. Previously, they have been held in Munich, Yerevan, Sofia and Tashkent. Their aim is to foster contacts between experts from different countries and to discuss issues of mutual interest.
A delegation from IMEMO of the Russian Academy of Sciences is taking part in the event at Issyk-Kul, along with representatives from the Institute for National Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Shanghai International Studies University and other scientific and expert organisations.
Voytolovsky thanked the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and the forum’s partners for organising the first off-site session of the ‘Primakov Readings’ in the republic.
In June 2026, the main ‘Primakov Readings’ forum was held in Moscow for the twelfth time. Its theme was ‘A World Without Rules: A Game of Power?’.
