Investment in the mining sector in Kyrgyzstan has increased 2.2-fold

In 2025, Kyrgyzstan received $1.31 billion in foreign direct investment, excluding outflows. This is 27.3 per cent more than in 2024 and 1.3 times higher than the figure for 2021.

Total foreign investment inflows into the country for the year amounted to $8.4 billion, an increase of 21.9 per cent compared with 2024. This is according to data from the National Statistics Committee.

The bulk of foreign direct investment – 85.7 per cent – was channelled into manufacturing, mining, wholesale and retail trade, as well as financial intermediation and insurance.

Compared with 2024, investment in mineral extraction increased 2.2-fold, whilst investment in manufacturing increased 1.8-fold. At the same time, investment in financial intermediation and insurance fell by 21.3 per cent, and investment in wholesale and retail trade fell 2.2-fold.

Inflows of foreign direct investment from non-CIS countries increased by 1.7 times. The main growth was driven by investment from India, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Turkey and China.

At the same time, investment from CIS countries fell by 25.2 per cent, mainly due to a decline in inflows from Russia, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
