Kyrgyzstan's domestic debt has risen by nearly 3 billion KGS over the past ten days

The volume of government treasury bonds in circulation, placed on the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan’s trading platform, continues to rise. According to the latest data, the country’s domestic debt increased by 2.919 billion KGS between March 13 and March 23, 2026.

While the volume of government bonds in circulation stood at 370.418 billion KGS as of March 13, by March 23 the figure had reached 373.337 billion KGS.

The growth was primarily driven by increased placements across certain maturity categories. For example, the volume of 10-year government bonds rose from 55.198 million KGS to 56.128 million KGS. Additionally, an increase was recorded for 5-year bonds, where the volume rose from 33.146 million KGS to 35.135 million KGS.

At the same time, there were no significant changes in other maturity categories. The volume of 3-year bonds remained at 70.3 billion KGS, 7-year bonds at 61.6 billion KGS, 15-year bonds at 139.4 billion KGS, and 20-year bonds at 10.8 billion KGS.

The growth in domestic debt may be linked to the government’s active use of domestic borrowing instruments to cover budgetary needs.
