06/04/2025, 12:38In an effort to maintain the quality of surfaced roads and prevent damage, a temporary restriction will be enforced from May 19 to September 1, 2025. This restriction applies when daytime air temperatures reach 28ºC or higher, prohibiting the movement of certain heavy freight vehicles on public roads approximately from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Vehicles with a maximum gross weight exceeding 18 tons will be restricted during these hours. Certain exemptions exist for transportation used for passengers; carrying humanitarian aid; transporting perishable foods and hazardous materials; moving oversized loads with special permits; and vehicles involved in road construction and repair (under a specific order).
The Department of Land and Water Transport under the Ministry of Transport and Communications is overseeing the enforcement of this restriction. Continuous monitoring and explanatory enforcement activities are underway. We remind drivers to avoid overloading to help preserve road quality.
