Wizz Air is closing its Abu Dhabi office but has not yet confirmed the suspension of flights to Kyrgyzstan

Wizz Air is discontinuing operations of its UAE subsidiary, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, effective 1 September 2025. This was reported by the authoritative aviation publication Flight Global, citing a statement from the company.

It is specified that the decision is due to a number of operational and geopolitical factors, including technical problems with engine reliability in hot climates and political instability in the Middle East.

The company emphasises that ‘significant changes in operating conditions, including supply chain disruptions, reduced demand and market access restrictions, do not allow us to maintain profitability in the region.’

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi was founded in 2020 in partnership with Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company and has since established routes not only to Europe but also to Central Asia. In particular, the carrier continues to operate flights on the Bishkek-Abu Dhabi route.

The Akchabar editorial team contacted Kyrgyzstan Airports OJSC for comment, where they said: ‘We haven't gotten any official notice from Wizz Air about stopping flights to Kyrgyzstan as of today.’

Thus, at the moment, flights between Bishkek and Abu Dhabi continue to operate as usual. At the same time, the company had previously announced the complete closure of routes from Kazakhstan to the UAE from 1 September this year due to the cessation of operations by Wizz Air Abu Dhabi.
