A key project is the construction of the Balykchy-Kochkor-Kara-Keche-Makmal railway, which began in March 2022. This route will become part of the unified network and will connect to the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway in the future. Another important step was the launch of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway on 27 December 2024. This strategic corridor will reduce the time to deliver cargo from China to Europe and the Middle East by 7-8 days, reducing the distance by 900 kilometres.
The industry has made significant progress in recent years: 100 new freight wagons have been purchased, 32 facilities and more than 100 kilometres of railway tracks have been repaired. Modern technologies and digitalisation of transportation processes are being actively introduced. The working conditions of employees have been improved and wages have been raised. Comfortable carriages have been introduced on the Bishkek-Balykchy route, which has increased the flow of passengers.
These measures strengthen Kyrgyzstan's transport potential and promote integration into international transport corridors, including routes to China, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Europe.
