Preventive raids are being carried out by staff from the Environmental and Technical Inspection Service under the Ministry of Natural Resources. Shop owners are being informed of the legal provisions prohibiting the import, sale and use of synthetic nets and electric fishing devices.
Fines are imposed for violations: 10,000 KGS for individuals and 28,000 KGS for legal entities.
Inspectors pay particular attention to the spawning season. The department notes that illegal fishing at this time causes serious damage to the ecosystem, as a single fish caught can mean the loss of hundreds of future individuals.
According to the agency, since the start of 2026, 46,300 metres of prohibited nets and over a tonne of rubbish have already been removed from Kyrgyzstan’s water bodies during raids.
