07/14/2025, 12:43According to the National Bank, the net inflow of remittances to Kyrgyzstan in January–May 2025 amounted to $1 billion 221.8 million. This is 25.8% more than in the same period last year, indicating a continuing trend of accelerated growth (for comparison: at the end of 2024, the increase was 18.6%). This is reported by analysts at the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB).
Russia remains the main source of remittances: the volume of remittances from this country increased by 17.2% year-on-year. This growth is partly explained by an increase in the average wages of migrant workers, as well as stable economic activity in the host countries. The funds received play an important role in supporting domestic consumption — retail trade in the country grew by 25.3% in the first five months of this year.
The growth in consumer activity has a direct impact on economic dynamics. According to preliminary estimates, GDP growth in 2025 could reach 10.3%, which would be one of the highest rates in the last decade. Remittances continue to be an important factor in the stability of the Kyrgyz economy.
