Preparations for the autumn-winter season were discussed in Bishkek

Under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev, a meeting of the republican headquarters was held to prepare the country's economic sectors and population for the autumn-winter period of 2025-2026.

The meeting was attended by heads of relevant ministries, state and municipal authorities, as well as authorised representatives of the president in the regions and heads of energy companies in the country's regions via videoconference.

During the meeting, issues were discussed regarding the volume of water in the country's reservoirs, in particular the Toktogul Reservoir, the uninterrupted supply of electricity to consumers, the readiness of municipal heat supply enterprises in the cities of Bishkek and Osh, as well as the supply of coal to economic sectors and the population, including pricing policy for coal.

It is expected that in 2025, electricity consumption in the republic will amount to 18.9 billion kWh, with electricity generation for the first seven months of 2025 amounting to 9.24 billion kWh. The volume of water in the Toktogul reservoir currently stands at 11.03 billion cubic metres, which is less than in the same period in 2024. However, according to experts, water inflow figures may change.

The meeting participants discussed the readiness of municipal heat supply companies in Bishkek and Osh for the heating season. Currently, the Bishkek Thermal Power Plant has 250,400 tonnes of coal and 3,900 tonnes of fuel oil in stock. The fuel oil requirements of the Bishkek and Osh thermal power plants are 27,500 tonnes.

Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev instructed the Ministry of Energy, the city administrations of Bishkek and Osh, and municipal heat supply companies to carry out timely and high-quality repair and reconstruction work on energy facilities, ensure their readiness to operate at maximum capacity during the autumn-winter period, and take measures to ensure the procurement of the necessary amount of fuel for the successful completion of the heating season.

«Healthcare, social and educational institutions must be prepared for the heating season in a timely manner and provided with fuel. The heads of regions and district state administrations (akims) have been tasked with ensuring that the local population is provided with sufficient coal at an affordable price in a timely manner. As there is little time left before the start of the heating season, I warn the heads of ministries and departments that if these issues are not prepared in a timely manner, appropriate decisions will be taken», — said Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev.

According to the schedule, work to prepare the republic's economic sectors and population for the autumn-winter period must be completed by 1 October 2025.
