A 7.5 MW small hydroelectric power station has been commissioned in the Issyk-Ata district

On 12 September, a 7.5 MW small hydroelectric power station was commissioned on the Tuyuk River in the Issyk-Ata district of the Chui region.

The project cost 516.1 million KGS. Funding was provided by the State Development Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The station will be able to generate around 29.16 million kWh of electricity per year. This is sufficient to supply electricity to up to 15,000 people.

The small hydropower station has created seven jobs. It is estimated that annual tax revenues from the facility will exceed 15 million KGS, with the prospect of further growth.

The project is also expected to contribute to the development of construction, transport and the service sector in the region. The use of hydropower will help increase the share of renewable energy sources and reduce CO₂ emissions.

Emil Takyrbashev, Chairman of the Board of the State Development Bank, noted that supporting renewable energy projects is one of the bank’s key priorities. According to him, the launch of the power station will increase generating capacity, strengthen the region’s energy supply, create jobs and boost tax revenue.
