12/16/2024, 15:13This year, the gross sugar beet harvest amounted to 870.2 thousand tons, which is 249.2 thousand tons more than in the same period of 2023. This figure will produce 120 thousand tons of sugar, which will fully cover the country's domestic consumption.
The next goal is to increase these figures and create opportunities for exporting sugar abroad. This was discussed during the field meeting held at the sugar factory “Koshoi” in the town of Shopokov under the leadership of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev.
During the meeting the issues of modernization and reconstruction of the sugar factory, preferential crediting of sugar beet growers for purchase of agricultural machinery, provision of engineering and technical specialists, food production technologists and agronomists, which are scarce in the industry, were considered. “Koshoi” processes about 3 thousand tons of beets per day.
The company employs about 350 people, and during the season their number reaches about 620 people.
This year the sugar factory “Koshoi” sowed about 5 thousand hectares with beets. As of December 13, 2024, the company processed 117 thousand tons of beets and produced 29.2 thousand tons of sugar. Currently, 215 thousand tons of beets are stored in cages.
Also, the plant equipment, buildings and structures are annually renovated in stages. At the end of the field meeting a number of instructions were given and a number of decisions were made.
