Housing they have been waiting for for years: the status of buildings in Bishkek and Kyzyl-Kie has been regularised

The Ministry of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Communal Services is carrying out an inventory of problematic properties, conducting a legal analysis of them and working towards their phased legalisation – issues that have remained unresolved for many years.

Bolot Cholponbaev, First Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Communal Services, met with residents of 38 blocks of flats in Bishkek and two blocks of flats in Kyzyl-Kiya, Batken Region.

During the meeting, Bolot Cholponbaev noted that this work is being carried out under the personal supervision of Minister Nurdhan Oruntayev and is the result of systematic and comprehensive efforts by the ministry. He emphasised that the decision taken represents an important step towards resolving housing issues for citizens that had remained unresolved for many years; he congratulated the residents and presented them with certificates of compliance.

It should be noted that some of the residential buildings, constructed 10–15 years ago, were never officially commissioned by the construction companies. As a result, residents have until now been unable to register their flats in their own names and have faced difficulties in obtaining the necessary documents. Furthermore, for many years they had been forced to pay for electricity, heating and other utilities at commercial rates.

During the event, representatives of the ministry explained the next steps to the residents and provided them with the necessary information.
