The banking sector increased lending by a third over nine months

The loan portfolio of Kyrgyz banks reached 460.6 billion KGS at the end of September, increasing by 35.2% since the beginning of the year. These figures are provided in the National Bank's report. For comparison, at the end of 2024, the total portfolio amounted to 340.7 billion KGS.

The growth in lending was unevenly distributed across sectors. The most noticeable negative dynamics were recorded in industry, where the volume of loans to the sector decreased by 25.7% to 10.4 billion KGS.

Other areas showed growth. Loans to the agricultural sector increased by 14% to 54 billion KGS, and to the construction sector by 23.3% (16.8 billion KGS). Trade retained its status as the largest recipient of bank resources, with the volume of loans reaching 106.9 billion KGS, an increase of almost 19%.

Mortgages continue to show significant growth, reaching 51 billion KGS (+30.1%). This reflects high activity in the housing loan market.

Consumer loans showed the most dynamic growth. The volume of this segment increased by 60.8% to 159.5 billion KGS. It is this type of loan that remains the main driver of the expansion of the banking portfolio.

The “other loans” category included loans amounting to 61.9 billion KGS, with an increase of 65.8% — the maximum in the structure.
