A deputy suggested moving the capital

At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on 22 January, MP Baktybek Maripov (Nookat District) said that even a two-headed mayor would not be able to solve the problems with smog and traffic jams in Bishkek.

The parliamentarian proposed a radical solution - to move the capital to another place. According to him, such measures will help relieve the city and improve its environmental situation.

‘To relocate the railway requires more than $550 million, and to expand and build roads - more than $1 billion. At the same time, 10 billion soms are attracted for the construction of a new city such as Asman. Therefore, relocation of the capital and withdrawal of executive power from Bishkek can be an effective solution,’ Maripov said
