Over 5,000 people are involved in the construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway

Active work on the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project is continuing in Kyrgyzstan. Today, Deputy Prime Minister Erlist Akunbekov held a working meeting with project participants.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Transport, the national company ‘Kyrgyz Temir Zholu’ and the joint railway company. The parties discussed the current progress of construction and the next stages of implementation of one of the region’s largest infrastructure projects.

To date, the main project documentation has already been prepared, and work is underway to refine the drawings and finalise the details. Large-scale work is in full swing at the construction sites: over 5,000 people and more than 5,600 pieces of machinery are involved.

The main focus is currently on tunnel boring, earthworks and bridge construction. Over 3.5 million cubic metres of earthworks have already been completed, which indicates the project is progressing at a rapid pace.

Erlist Akunbekov emphasised that safety requirements and environmental standards must be strictly adhered to during construction. The Cabinet of Ministers, for its part, gave assurances that the project would receive comprehensive support and coordination.
