01/15/2025, 14:05The Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev held a meeting with the heads of the relevant enterprises of electric networks and district electric networks of the JSC «NES of Kyrgyzstan».
The meeting was held on the implementation of the programme of digitalisation and automation of electricity supply, within the framework of which it is planned to start installation of 500,100 ‘smart’ meters in the country in the near future, which were received through the World Bank.
Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic Taalaibek Ibraev, making a speech, stressed the importance of continuing the process of digitalisation and automation of electricity supply. He also noted that the ongoing work will improve the reliability of electricity supply and the quality of service to subscribers.
At the meeting, Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev focused on four issues. Within the framework of joint work with the World Bank this year it is planned to purchase 500,100 smart meters, 50,000 of which have already been received. He instructed the relevant managers to distribute smart meters to the district power grids by the end of the year, to carry out installation works and eliminate power losses.
In order to successfully pass the autumn-winter period of 2025, he instructed to put the power engineers into a regular working mode. He emphasised that although it is the middle of winter, the weather is deteriorating and it is necessary to carry out preliminary checks to make sure that the equipment does not fall into an emergency situation.
Installation of ASKUE meters - automated system of commercial electricity metering, allows NES Kyrgyzstan not only to introduce systems of online billing of receipts, online payment for electricity consumed and online connections, but also to carry out a lot of related work to modernise worn-out equipment, introduce modern technologies, and automate the management processes of energy facilities.
New meters are installed to subscribers free of charge, at the expense of the funds of
NES of Kyrgyzstan. To date, the company has installed more than 450 thousand modern metering devices. By the end of the year 2026 it is planned to complete the installation of «smart» meters for all subscribers of the company.
The Minister instructed the management of «NES of Kyrgyzstan» to timely fulfil the tasks raised at the People's Kurultai on the energy sector, and to solve the issue of allocating funds for the necessary equipment.
In addition, reminded that it is necessary to respond in a timely manner to complaints, letters and appeals of the population in the energy sector. The Minister of Energy emphasised that every citizen who applied should not remain unanswered. At the same time, thanks to some of the criticisms and appeals made, the energy sector will change in the right direction.
