The future Ala-Too Resort on Issyk-Kul will offer more ski trails than its foreign counterparts

The state-owned enterprise Ala-Too Resort has received almost 4,000 hectares of land in the village of Khan-Teniri, Ak-Suu district, Issyk-Kul region, for the construction of the largest ski cluster in Central Asia. This was announced at a press conference by Askat Cholponbaev, deputy director for construction at the state-owned enterprise.

The project will unite three resorts — Zhyrgalan, Ak-Bulak, and Boz-Uchuk — with a total length of ski trails exceeding 250 kilometers. For comparison, the popular foreign resort of Shymbulak in Kazakhstan offers about 20 kilometers of trails. Zhyrgalan will become the largest with 120 km of trails, including trails of various difficulty levels and modern infrastructure.

In addition to ski trails, the resort will operate year-round thanks to a natural snow and snow retention system, as well as infrastructure with hotels of various classes, spas, cultural and sports facilities. Construction is being carried out in compliance with international environmental standards. The first stage, the Zhyrgalan resort, is already under development.
