Kyrgyzstan's budget reduced foreign exchange losses in January–October

Kyrgyzstan's state budget recorded an exchange rate loss for the first ten months of the year, but the scale of the loss was lower than at the beginning of the year. This is according to updated data from the Ministry of Finance.

Exchange rate differences — an indicator reflecting the impact of currency fluctuations on budget execution — have once again moved into negative territory. For January-October, the exchange rate loss amounted to 121.3 million KGS.

Although the indicator remains negative, there has been a noticeable reduction in its dynamics. In January-September, the cumulative exchange rate loss exceeded 123.6 million KGS.

At the same time, for comparison, in January–October 2024, the budget, on the contrary, received an exchange rate gain of 2.38 million KGS. At that time, the strengthening of the national currency and the favorable situation on the foreign exchange market ensured a positive result for the budget.

In 2025, the situation changed, with a more volatile KGS exchange rate and changes in the structure of foreign exchange revenues leading to a negative result. Nevertheless, the reduction in exchange rate losses by October allows us to expect further stabilization of the indicator by the end of the year, provided, of course, that the currency market remains stable.
