Kyrgyzstan has received a mobile laboratory worth 6.6 million KGS to monitor its pastures

A state-of-the-art mobile laboratory worth over 6.6 million KGS has been handed over to the Veterinary Service for Livestock Development, Pastures and Fodder. The equipment was provided as part of the CS-FOR project, implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations with financial support from the Green Climate Fund.

The mobile laboratory comprises a Toyota Hilux vehicle, a DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise RTK drone, laptops, solar panels, a generator, a portable energy storage system and other equipment for conducting field research.

The new technology will enable the rapid assessment of pasture conditions, the identification of degraded areas, and the collection and analysis of spatial data using drones and GIS technologies to inform decision-making on pasture resource management.

In addition, the FAO and the Veterinary Service have signed a cooperation agreement providing for the development of a unified digital system for monitoring and assessing pastures in Kyrgyzstan.

The handover of the equipment coincides with the implementation of initiatives for the sustainable management of natural resources. Earlier, the UN General Assembly declared 2026 the International Year of Pastures and Herders.
