07/19/2026, 14:34Between January and May 2026, Kyrgyzstan exported almost ten times fewer suitcases, bags, briefcases and similar items than in the same period the previous year. Despite the sharp decline in the physical volume of shipments, export revenue rose by 18.3 per cent. This is according to data from the National Statistics Committee.
Over the five-month period, Kyrgyzstan exported 342,600 items worth $3.8 million. A year earlier, the volume of exports stood at 3.62 million items, with a value of $3.2 million. The number of items exported fell by 90.5 per cent, whilst revenue increased by 18.3 per cent.
The most significant decline occurred in trade with Uzbekistan. Exports to this country fell from 3.18 million to 207,400 units – a reduction of more than 15-fold. The value of exports also fell – from 72.3 million to 4.8 million som.
At the same time, Russia became the main export market in terms of value. Between January and May, 114,900 items worth 308.2 million soms were exported to Russia, representing a 51.9 per cent increase in monetary terms compared with the same period last year. The Russian market accounted for around 93 per cent of Kyrgyzstan’s export revenue for this product group.
