Farmers request that the purchase price for milk be set at 45 KGS

On 9 February, the Committee on Finance, Budget, Entrepreneurship and Competition Development of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic heard information on the implementation of the parliamentary resolution of 14 March 2024 ‘On the regulation of purchase prices for milk’.

First Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Zhanibek Kerimaliev reported that the average purchase price of milk in the regions currently ranges from 28 to 43 KGS.
Representatives of producers and suppliers noted the increase in livestock maintenance costs and proposed setting the purchase price at 45 KGS.

Deputy Aisarakhan Abdiyeva inquired about the mechanisms for determining the purchase price, emphasising that prices vary from region to region. According to the speaker, the cost is approved by a commission involving local authorities, producers and relevant state structures.

MP Kamila Talieva pointed out that the implementation of the resolution began eight months after its adoption and called on the relevant ministry to step up its work. During the discussion, issues of support for producers, subsidies for farmers and increasing the number of highly productive livestock were also raised. Deputies Bekmurza Ergeshov and Ulanbek Zhanbaev emphasised the need for additional state support measures, while Ulan Primov noted the export potential of Kyrgyzstan's dairy industry.
