The State Committee for National Security returned apartments to the state in lieu of an illegally sold kindergarten in Bishkek

The State Committee for National Security (SCNS) has uncovered the illegal privatization of a plot of land with a kindergarten in Bishkek. Instead of returning the land to the state, compensation was paid in the form of new apartments.

The plot in question covers 30 acres and has been home to a kindergarten for the children of workers at the Frunze factory since 1953. In the 1990s, the plot with two buildings was illegally transferred to private ownership, although according to the laws of that time, it was not possible to privatize the property of state educational institutions.

Now, a private developer is already building a residential complex of three 10-story buildings on this site. The expert commission concluded that it was not feasible to demolish the new buildings.

To compensate for the damage to the state, seven apartments with a total area of about 600 square meters were obtained from the developer. Their estimated value is almost 54.5 million KGS. These apartments will now become state property.

The GKNB continues to search for and return other state property, mainly social facilities, that were illegally sold to private owners.
