The Kozho-Kaiyr canal was built in 1965 and for decades has provided irrigation for the region's agricultural lands. The system draws water from the Isfayram-Sai River through a headworks with a flow rate of 9 m³/sec. The canal serves about 6.3 thousand hectares of irrigated land and more than 4.6 thousand farmers united in three Water Users Associations.
Nurlan Zhumayev noted that the modernization of the canal will significantly improve the efficiency of water supply to the agricultural sector of Kadamjai district, reduce water losses and ensure sustainable development of agriculture under the conditions of constant water scarcity.
