Kyrgyzstan and South Korea intend to develop cooperation in the fields of science and intellectual property

As part of the 68th series of meetings of the Assemblies of Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organisation in Geneva, a bilateral meeting took place between Gulzat Isamatova, Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovation, and Kim Yeon-seong, South Korea’s Minister of Intellectual Property.

During the meeting, the prospects for expanding Kyrgyz-South Korean cooperation in the fields of intellectual property, science, innovation and the commercialisation of research results were discussed. Both sides assessed the results of joint projects implemented with the support of the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA), as well as the progress of new joint projects aimed at launching innovative technologies and developing intellectual property.

The discussion centred on issues relating to the commercialisation of intellectual property, the management of intellectual property at universities, the digital transformation of the intellectual property sector, the application of artificial intelligence technologies in the examination process, and the training and professional development of specialists.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties confirmed their intention to sign a memorandum of comprehensive cooperation between the ministries, designed to create a solid foundation for the implementation of promising joint projects and the expansion of the Kyrgyz-Korean partnership.
