10/09/2025, 13:53The first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Water Management Commission, established to strengthen cooperation in water resource management and ensure access to important hydro and energy facilities, was held in Dushanbe.
The meeting discussed the commission's status and attracting investment for the modernisation and restoration of hydraulic structures, especially in border regions. The Kyrgyz delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Water Resources Almaz Zheenaliev, and the Tajik delegation by Director of the Land Reclamation and Irrigation Agency Z. Davlatzoda.
The parties emphasised the importance of sustainable dialogue on water resource use, which will strengthen trust, regional stability and create new opportunities for economic development. Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to continue the work of the commission.
