07/30/2025, 18:00A meeting was held at the Ministry of Health between the Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, Erkin Chechebaev, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to the Kyrgyz Republic, Mekin Mustafa Kemal Okem.
The meeting was devoted to discussing priority areas of bilateral cooperation in the field of healthcare.
In particular, they discussed the resumption of sending Kyrgyz patients for treatment to medical institutions in Turkey free of charge under the 2014 agreement between the governments of the two countries in the field of healthcare and medical sciences.
The Kyrgyz side expressed its readiness to work with the Turkish side to update the application mechanism, decision-making deadlines, and quota allocation procedure in order to improve its effectiveness.
Particular attention was paid to continuing cooperation in the field of transplantology. During the meeting, the importance of implementing the protocol on cooperation in the field of transplantation, signed in November 2024, was noted. The protocol provides for the performance of operations at the Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital.
The possibility of continuing the practice of bringing Turkish specialists to the Osh region, where there is a high demand for transplant care, was also discussed. The minister expressed gratitude for the support previously provided in organizing the work of the Transplant Center at Osh State University, where 16 specialists trained in Turkey are currently working.

All proposals from the Kyrgyz side will be carefully studied and forwarded to the relevant authorities in Ankara. I am convinced that our cooperation will continue to develop in a spirit of friendship and brotherhood», — said Mekin Mustafa Kemal Okem, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to the Kyrgyz Republic.
The minister noted that the partnership with Turkey plays a significant role in the development of the Kyrgyz healthcare system.
