Kyrgyzstan remains at the bottom of the EAEU in terms of minimum wage—just $38

Kyrgyzstan continues to have the lowest minimum wage among the EAEU countries. As of March 2026, the minimum wage in the country stood at just $38 in equivalent terms. These figures are cited in comparative statistics for the Eurasian Economic Union countries.

By comparison, the minimum wage in Russia reached $337 in March, in Belarus—$292, and in Kazakhstan—$174. Even in Armenia, whose economy is comparable in scale to Kyrgyzstan’s, the minimum wage was $199.

At the same time, the gap with neighboring countries continues to widen. While the minimum wage in Kyrgyzstan was $26–27 in 2023, by early 2026 it had risen to $38. However, the growth was significantly slower than in other countries of the union.

The sharpest increase in the minimum wage occurred in Russia and Belarus. In Russia, the figure rose from $179 in December 2023 to $353 in February 2026. In Belarus, it rose from $174 to $300 over the same period.

In Kyrgyzstan, the minimum wage remains virtually symbolic and significantly lower than not only the average wage but also the subsistence minimum. Over the past few years, it has remained at around 3,000 KGS, and its dollar equivalent depends mainly on the exchange rate of the national currency.
