Kyrgyzstan exported 12 times less gold than it did a year ago

Between January and May 2026, Kyrgyzstan exported 98.99 kg of gold worth $16.2 million. Compared with the same period last year, the volume of exports fell by a factor of 11.7, whilst their value fell by almost a factor of seven.

According to data from the National Statistics Committee, 98,986.2 grams of gold were exported from Kyrgyzstan in the first five months of 2026. In value terms, exports totalled $16.2 million.

By way of comparison, in January–May 2025, the republic exported 1,159,844.6 grams of gold worth $112.2 million.

Thus, the physical volume of exports fell by 91.5 per cent, whilst their value fell by 85.5 per cent. In official statistics, this is reflected as 8.5 per cent and 14.5 per cent, respectively, compared with the previous year’s level.

All gold exports in January–May 2026 were destined for Switzerland. A total of 98,986.2 grams of the precious metal, worth $16.2 million, was shipped to that country.

A year earlier, the distribution of shipments was more varied. Kyrgyzstan exported gold to:

• Switzerland — 727,193.5 grams worth $74.6 million;
• the United Kingdom — 372,015.2 grams worth $31.2 million;
• Malaysia — 50,005.9 grams worth $5.3 million;
• Turkey — 10,630 grams worth $1.04 million.

In 2026, no gold was exported to Malaysia, the United Kingdom or Turkey.
