Kyrgyzstanis began taking out longer-term loans

In 2024, Kyrgyz citizens took out more loans with longer repayment terms. According to the National Bank, the most significant growth was seen in loans with terms of more than three years, which increased by 46.5% to reach 146 billion KGS.

Loans with a term of up to one year grew by 21.2% to 52.8 billion KGS, and loans for one to three years grew by 25.4% to 135.6 billion KGS. This trend indicates an increase in the availability of long-term lending.

The increase in the share of long-term loans was also reflected in the average maturity of loans. It rose from 30.8 to 32 months. This indicates a shift in the structure of the banks' loan portfolio towards longer-term loans.

We would like to add that at the end of 2024, the banking sector's loan portfolio reached 340.1 billion KGS. Over the year, it grew by 32.3% (from 257.1 billion KGS).
