07/08/2026, 12:25The number of registered businesses operating in the tourism sector in Kyrgyzstan has increased by almost 12,000 over the past year. According to data from the National Statistical Committee, there were 153,300 such entities at the start of 2026, compared with 141,500 a year earlier.
Thus, over the past year, the number of entities in the tourism sector has increased by 11,800, or approximately 8.3 per cent.
The most significant growth was observed among organisations providing services in the recreation and leisure sector. Their number rose from 18,400 to 26,100. This represented an increase of 7,700 businesses, or around 42 per cent.
At the same time, the sector’s financial indicators are also improving. The gross value added of tourism activities rose from 8.2 billion to 10.9 billion KGS, whilst its share of the country’s GDP increased from 2.4 per cent to 2.6 per cent.
Alongside the growth in the number of market participants, investment in the tourism sector has also increased. Investment in the sector’s fixed assets rose from 3.2 billion to 4 billion KGS.
Revenues in tourism-related sectors also increased: turnover from hotels and other accommodation facilities rose from 1.1 billion to 1.58 billion KGS, whilst travel agencies’ revenues rose from 1.46 billion to 1.95 billion KGS.
Exports of tourism services, reflecting revenue from hosting foreign visitors, rose over the year from $230.6 million to $250.3 million.
