Control over “Kyrgyztelecom” has been transferred to the Administrative Office following the abolition of the Ministry of Digital Transformation

The state’s stake in Kyrgyztelecom has been officially transferred from the Ministry of Digital Development to the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan. These changes took place amid the ongoing reorganization of the Ministry of Digital Development and the transfer of its functions to the Presidential Administration.

According to the company’s disclosure, as of May 14, the Ministry of Digital Development fully divested itself of the operator’s capital, transferring 176,161,600 shares, or 78.3% of the authorized capital. The value of the stake is estimated at over 1 billion KGS.

On the same day, the Presidential Administration became the new owner of this stake. Prior to this, the agency had no stake in the telecom company’s capital.

The transfer of shares is directly linked to President Sadyr Zhaparov’s decree of April 30, according to which the Ministry of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies is subject to reorganization.

The authorities explained the reform by noting that despite the introduction of digital technologies and the development of electronic government services, the existing system still faces bureaucratic barriers, and digitalization processes “are not fully fulfilling their objectives.”
