In particular, a meeting was held with Guo Zhuxue, Chairman of the Board of Directors of China Railway Corporation.
During the talks, the implementation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project was discussed.
"Today, we see that international cooperation is entering a new phase in the field of transport and infrastructure. In this context, I would like to highlight the historical significance of the project for our entire region. The construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway is an important economic link connecting China with Central Asia, South Asia, the Middle East and Europe via Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan," Bakyt Torobayev said.
He emphasised that since the start of the project, Kyrgyzstan has received offers of cooperation from various countries. Taking this opportunity, he invited logistics companies to use this railway for freight transport in the future.
In turn, Guo Zhuxue expressed gratitude to the Kyrgyz side for actively promoting the project at the level of relevant state bodies, noting that the Chinese corporation also attaches special importance to this project and intends to actively cooperate. He added that this strategic project is a priority area of state policy and is under the personal control of the country's leadership.
It should be noted that the total length of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway from Kashgar (PRC) to Andijan (Uzbekistan) is 526 km, of which 304 km pass through the territory of Kyrgyzstan. Almost 40% of the route on the Kyrgyz section consists of tunnels and bridges.
It should be recalled that Tajikistan has expressed interest in joining the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan strategic railway project. In this regard, the authorities have asked the Chinese side to provide assistance in this matter.
