Maksutov: ‘China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan’ — a project that is changing the map of transport links in Eurasia

Nurbek Maksutov, representative of the Ministry of Economy and Trade on WTO issues in Geneva, gave an interview to the international magazine FIATA Review, where he spoke in detail about the significance of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project.

According to Maksutov, the new transport artery will become not only a key element of the Eurasian trade and logistics system, but also a strategic resource for Kyrgyzstan.

‘Our geographical location between the largest markets of Asia and Europe makes the country a natural transit corridor. The implementation of the project will strengthen foreign economic ties, increase competitiveness and open up new opportunities for business in the global market,’ he emphasised.

He also noted that in the context of the development of multimodal transport corridors, the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway will become one of the most ambitious infrastructure initiatives in the republic's recent history. It will provide Kyrgyz producers with access to international markets, create new logistics capacities and contribute to the growth of the country's investment attractiveness.
