Bishkek City Council has provided an update on the status of the criminal cases involving the five former deputy mayors

Bishkek City Council has clarified the status of the criminal cases against five former deputy mayors. According to the council, one case is under investigation, two defendants have been acquitted, one case has been dismissed, and another former deputy mayor remains in custody.

The case against Talaybek Baigaziev is being investigated by the central office of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB); the case file has not yet been submitted to the court. On 5 June 2026, Jamalbek Yrsaliev was fully acquitted by the Bishkek City Court.

On 23 September, the Leninsky District Court ordered Azamat Kadyrov to be remanded in custody until 20 November. The case against Maksat Sazykulov was discontinued after the Supreme Court quashed the previous court rulings on 3 August. Azat Uzakov had also previously been acquitted with the right to rehabilitation.

The City Council separately emphasised that some of the cases relate to the activities of former officials in other state bodies, rather than to their work at the City Council. The Council called for people to base their views on established facts and to respect the presumption of innocence.
