02/02/2026, 10:52Finance Minister Baketaev held a meeting with Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Yoshikawa Yoshifumi. During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the key outcome of the talks was an agreement to jointly develop a new Country Cooperation Program between Kyrgyzstan and JICA for the period 2026-2030. The document will reflect the priority areas of the country's socio-economic development and the support mechanisms provided by the Japanese agency.
Baketaev expressed his gratitude to the Japanese side for its consistent support of Kyrgyzstan and noted the significance of the four grant projects signed in December last year. According to him, the new program will systematize cooperation and strengthen its contribution to the implementation of national development programs.
For his part, Yoshikawa Yoshifumi confirmed JICA's intention to continue to take into account the strategic interests of Kyrgyzstan when formulating assistance programs. He also expressed his readiness to expand cooperation in the field of human capital development and support for small and medium-sized businesses.
It should be noted that, during the entire period of cooperation with JICA's support, 43 projects have been implemented in Kyrgyzstan in various sectors of the economy and social sphere. The year 2026 also marks the 25th anniversary of the opening of the JICA representative office in the republic.
