Министр энергетики принял участие в Азиатском форуме чистой энергии в Маниле

Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev paid a working visit to Manila and took part in the Asian Clean Energy Forum 2025 (ACEF).

During the forum, Taalaibek Ibraev delivered a speech in which he emphasised that the development of clean energy is one of the key issues of our time.

"The goals, values and principles of today's forum are fully in line with Kyrgyzstan's state policy in the energy sector. With its significant hydropower potential, our country has been focusing on sustainable and clean energy for many years. Today, about 90% of the electricity generated in the republic comes from hydropower plants, and we are confident that this is only the beginning," he said.

The minister noted that in addition to developing hydropower, Kyrgyzstan is actively exploring areas related to the use of solar and wind energy. Pilot projects are being implemented in a number of regions in cooperation with international partners.

"President Sadyr Nurgozhodzhevich stated in Glasgow in 2021 that the transition to a sustainable economy and the development of renewable energy sources is our only path forward in the context of global climate change. For Kyrgyzstan, the development of clean energy is not just an energy strategy. It is a contribution to climate balance, regional sustainability and a decent future for future generations. Therefore, we invite everyone to cooperate," Ibraev said.

The minister also spoke in detail about the Kambar-Ata-1 project, which is of strategic importance for Kyrgyzstan, and called on forum participants, including representatives of the Asian Development Bank, to cooperate in its implementation.

During the forum, Alpbek Sadyrov, CEO of Electric Power Plants JSC, gave a presentation on the current state of the Kyrgyz energy sector, major projects and the country's energy potential. He provided information on the largest hydropower plants belonging to OJSC Electric Power Plants, the volume of electricity they generate, and the main sources of electricity supply to the population. In addition, Sadyrov spoke about the promising Kambar-Ata-1 project, noting that the Ministry of Energy is ready to work closely with international investors to jointly implement this and other projects.
