02/26/2025, 11:15Today, 26 February, at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the Speaker of Parliament Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu said that the ministers of culture, health and education do not have to understand the specifics of these areas. In developed countries, such ministries are headed by economists and financiers, not specialists in each specific field, he said.
Turgunbek uulu emphasised that an experienced manager with leadership skills would be much more effective as a minister than someone who has devoted his life to one of these sectors.
‘If a person who has been engaged in culture, medicine or education all his life becomes a minister, he will be of no use,’ he said.
The Speaker reminded that he himself had been a minister, which confirms his experience in this matter. He also expressed confidence that the appointment of Mirbek Mambetaliyev to the post of Minister of Culture is the right decision, despite the fact that he had no experience in the field of culture. The main thing, according to Turgunbek uulu, is the ability to competently manage processes and effectively lead the department.
The Speaker's opinion provoked discussion in the society, especially in light of the appointment of the new Minister, who, in the opinion of many, does not have deep knowledge in the field of culture.
