The Ministry of Natural Resources has identified breaches in the keeping of ostriches at ‘Kemin-Ordo’

Inspectors from the Ministry of Natural Resources identified breaches of the conditions for keeping ostriches at the ‘Kemin-Ordo’ complex following the circulation of a video on social media. The owners have been held administratively liable.

Inspectors from the Chui Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment carried out an on-site inspection at the ‘Kemin-Ordo’ complex.

During the inspection, breaches of animal welfare requirements were identified. Following the inspection, administrative measures were taken against the owners and a fine was imposed in accordance with Kyrgyz legislation.

The Ministry reported that, following the publication of the video footage, the complex’s owners rectified the identified breaches. The area where the ostriches are kept has been cleaned, and their living conditions have been brought up to standard.

Furthermore, it has been established that the birds are provided with the necessary feed and are receiving a balanced diet.
