The ministry said that a single penalty rate has now been set. In the event of a delay in the payment of wages, vacation pay, severance pay, or other mandatory payments, the employer is required to pay an additional 0.25% of the unpaid amount for each calendar day of delay. This continues until the day of actual payment.
In addition, a statute of limitations has been established. If wages were not paid on time, the employee has the right to go to court within three years from the date when the payment should have been made.
The ministry noted that these measures are aimed at strengthening the protection of the labor rights of Kyrgyz citizens.
At the same time, according to the National Statistical Committee, as of December 1, 2025, companies owed employees 84.7 million KGS in wages. This is a significant amount, although it is 20.4% less than on the same date in 2024.
