01/28/2025, 17:38The State Agency for Vehicle and Driver Registration under the Cabinet of Ministers has approved a list of state registration number plates (licence plates) with prohibited combinations of letters that cannot be issued to the public.
According to the list approved in June 2024, the following categories of letter combinations are unacceptable:
Abbreviations of government agencies: MVD, MBD, SNB, GNS, FBI and others.
International organisation designations: OON, OOH.
Abbreviations of trademarks or trade names that are objects of intellectual property.
Designations of border countries: TJK, UZB, KHP, KAZ.
Obscene, obscene or ambiguous combinations: GEI, HUY, SEX, XUI etc.
Symbols promoting criminal ideology: AUE, OPG, VOR and others.
The state agency does not have the authority to forcibly seize banned licence plates. However, the owners may voluntarily transfer such licence plates to the agency for disposal. In this case, the cost of the previously purchased licence plates will be fully reimbursed to the owners.
If a car with an unacceptable number plate is stopped by law enforcement agencies, the vehicle may be sent to an impound lot until the number plate is replaced.
This measure is aimed at ensuring ethical standards and preventing the use of licence plates with offensive or inappropriate meanings.
