10/07/2026, 14:20Construction is continuing on a new terminal complex at Osh International Airport, which, once completed, will be able to handle up to 1,200 passengers per hour and over 5 million passengers a year.
Adylbek Kasymaliev, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, spoke about the modernisation of regional airports during the celebrations marking the 93rd anniversary of civil aviation in Kyrgyzstan.
The new complex in Osh covers an area of approximately 25,400 square metres and comprises six buildings, check-in and waiting areas, a food court, leisure areas and a car park with space for 650 vehicles.
Construction began in February 2025. At the time, the authorities cited the rapid growth in passenger numbers as the reason for the project. Between 2021 and 2024, the number of passengers passing through the country’s airports rose from 3.9 million to 5.8 million.
At the same time, construction is continuing in Kyrgyzstan on a new airport in the Jalal-Abad region, alongside the refurbishment of facilities at Manas Airport and the further modernisation of the regional network.
Kasymaliev himself stated that the government’s objective is to transform Kyrgyzstan into a modern aviation hub whilst simultaneously increasing airport capacity, expanding the route network and renewing the aircraft fleet.
