02/04/2026, 18:16Today, a meeting was held in the central square of the Osh market between Kanybek Tumanbayev, head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, and entrepreneurs working at the Osh market.
Details of the relocation of the Osh market were announced in the capital. There are plans to build a city park on the site of the Osh market, and the Kyal market area will be reorganised into a hospital. The project will also cover the Batken market, which will be closed at the same time as the others.
What will happen to the entrepreneurs
According to Kanybek Tumanbayev, the relocation of traders will be organised and smooth. First, tenants who have been working in the markets on a permanent basis will be resettled, followed by those who wish to do so.
Each entrepreneur will be provided with the same amount of retail space to avoid unequal conditions.
Roads, transport and traffic jams
To avoid traffic jams, several roads are planned to be built to the new trading area. One of them will be 14 metres wide with four lanes. According to the authorities, there will be no traffic jams.
In addition, the Bishkek City Council is negotiating the launch of bus routes, which will start operating once the infrastructure is fully ready.
Timeline and money
All work, from construction to the launch of transport, is planned to be completed by 1 August. The state has promised to pay full compensation to the owners of private buildings affected by the project.
At the same time, entrepreneurs are being warned in advance that they will have to pay for electricity and security at the new location.
