Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliyev Reviews Progress of Kyrgyzstan-China-Uzbekistan Railway Tunnel Construction

Jalal-Abad Region, 5 December - Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers-Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliyev familiarised himself with the progress of construction of the tunnel on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway section in the Tosh-Kutchu area.

The head of the Cabinet was briefed on the construction work being carried out.

The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project runs along the Torugart-Arpa-Kosh-Dobo-Makmal-Jalal-Abad route (304.94 km). The Torugart-Makmal section (160 km) uses a 1,435 mm gauge, and the Makmal-Jalal-Abad section (145 km) uses a 1,520 mm gauge. A transshipment station and a possible logistics centre are planned in the Makmal area.

A total of 5,695 pieces of equipment and more than 5,000 people are involved in the project. Work has begun on 18 tunnels (out of 29).

Construction has begun on 17 of 50 bridges and 28 of 602 culverts.

Head of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliyev emphasised the importance of high-quality implementation of this strategic infrastructure project.
