President Sadyr Zhaparov met with President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan in a one-on-one format

President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov held talks with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in a one-on-one format today, July 8, as part of a state visit to Tajikistan.

The sides discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation on a wide range of issues, including the development of social infrastructure in certain regions and strengthening cooperation in multilateral forums. Special attention was paid to issues of interest to residents of border areas.

President Emomali Rahmon warmly welcomed President Sadyr Zhaparov and expressed satisfaction with the meeting. He noted that Kyrgyz-Tajik relations are on the rise, highlighting the successful completion of the state border delimitation process and the active progress of work on its demarcation.

The Tajik leader also noted the dynamic development of trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between the two countries. He pointed out the importance of close cooperation in the security sphere and expressed readiness to discuss with his Kyrgyz counterpart the current state and prospects of bilateral partnership, as well as pressing international and regional issues.

In turn, President Sadyr Zhaparov expressed gratitude for the invitation to visit Tajikistan on a state visit and for the warm and cordial welcome from the brotherly Tajik people.

He particularly noted that the completion of the process of delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border was an important step strengthening security and stability not only in the two countries, but also in the region as a whole.

The head of state expressed confidence that the demarcation of the remaining sections would be completed in the near future in accordance with the agreed schedule.

Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that he looks forward to meaningful and constructive talks, during which the parties will discuss all pressing issues and identify priority areas for Kyrgyz-Tajik cooperation.

After the one-on-one meeting, Sadyr Zhaparov and Emomali Rahmon will continue talks in an expanded format.
