Foreign direct investment inflows into Kyrgyzstan rose by 26 per cent to $710 million

Foreign direct investment inflows into Kyrgyzstan in the first half of 2026 reached $709.9 million, an increase of 26.2 per cent compared with the same period last year. This was announced by the Prime Minister, Adylbek Kasymaliev, at a cabinet meeting on 7 October.

Growth in foreign investment was recorded across several sectors. In the manufacturing sector, inflows rose by 21.3 per cent; in mining, by 7.1 per cent; and in wholesale and retail trade, by 57.6 per cent.

In financial intermediation and insurance, growth stood at 5.9 per cent; in professional, scientific and technical activities, 17.7 per cent; and in the information and communications sector, 19.5 per cent.

Kasymaliev instructed the National Investment Agency to step up efforts to attract foreign direct investment.

Tourism figures were also presented at the meeting. Between January and June, the number of holidaymakers in Kyrgyzstan rose by almost 1.4 times to 1.9 million people. According to government data, the gross value added from tourism reached approximately 34.1 billion KGS, an increase of 26.7 per cent. Official statistics also record 1.9 million holidaymakers and estimate the sector’s contribution at approximately 34 billion KGS, or 3.6 per cent of GDP for the first half of the year.

The government will need to work separately on increasing the length of stay of foreign tourists, improving the quality of services and preparing the infrastructure for the winter season.
