06/16/2025, 14:21According to the results of January-April 2025, Switzerland became the largest buyer of gold from Kyrgyzstan, overtaking the UK, which had previously held the lead. According to the National Statistics Committee, exports to Switzerland amounted to more than 727 kg worth 6.5 billion KGS (almost $75 million).
For comparison, 372 kg of gold worth 2.7 billion KGS (about $31 million) were sent to the UK. Thus, Switzerland purchased almost twice as much gold in both physical and monetary terms.
In total, in the first four months of 2025, Kyrgyzstan exported gold worth almost 9.8 billion KGS, or $112.1 million, which is half of last year's figure for the same period.
