Altynbek Abduvapov, former head of the State Tax Service, was found to have assets worth $55 million

At a meeting with the leaders of Osh and Osh region, the head of the SCNS Kamchybek Tashiev said that the former head of the Tax Service Altynbek Abduvapov was found to have property worth about $55 million.

Kamchybek Tashiyev recalled that Abduvapov had worked in the tax service for more than ten years and was not engaged in business. Yet he had accumulated a large fortune - which raises many questions.

"I was informed that Abduvapov has assets worth $55 million. He was head of the tax service, and you say you don't take a penny. How can you make that much money? His subordinates said they gave him bribes from $50,000 to $100,000 a month. That's the level of corruption we have in the tax service," Tashiyev said.

He added that all this property will be confiscated.

"We will take everything from him. Now Altynbek will be one of the poorest people. Before, judges used to take bribes, people went free and drove expensive cars. That won't happen now," he said.

Abduvapov has a house in Bodrum, Turkey, a business in Almaty and a building in Bishkek that rents out for 4.5m KGS per month, Tashiyev said. He also owns stakes in several construction companies.
