The new facility, with an area of 5,000 square metres, will be able to store up to 3,000 tonnes of frozen fruit and vegetables, doubling the company's total capacity.
According to Artem Novikov, Chairman of the Kyrgyz Republic Fund for Development, the project is fully in line with the National Development Programme until 2030 and aims to increase exports of Kyrgyz agricultural products several times over.
"During peak months, the harvest is so large that the existing storage capacity is simply not enough. The new complex will allow us to receive berries from farmers without interruption, eliminating the risk of crop loss," he said.
The expansion of infrastructure is linked to export growth: over the past year, deliveries of frozen fruits and berries have increased almost fourfold, to 3,632 tonnes. The new hub will ensure the uninterrupted receipt of products from farmers during the peak harvest period, when up to 60% of the annual volume of raw materials enters the market, and the preservation of quality in accordance with international standards.
To stabilise the raw material base, Kyrgyzcentroproduct is implementing a programme to supply certified seedlings from Poland and Italy, followed by the purchase of the harvest. This creates a closed value chain — from planting material to the export of finished products labelled ‘Made in KG’.
