In Bishkek they want to run underground power lines

On 27 January, a meeting of representatives of energy and water agencies of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan was held in Tashkent. The main topic was co-operation in the water and energy sector and ensuring electricity supply to Kyrgyzstan for 2025. Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic Taalaibek Ibraev thanked the neighbouring countries for their support and stressed that electricity supplies are on schedule.

Ibraev paid special attention to the issue of modernisation of the Bishkek energy system. He discussed with representatives of Azerbaijan the supply of equipment for the construction of underground cable lines in the capital. This is necessary because of the growth of the city and the security threat posed by overhead power lines.

In addition, the minister held talks with colleagues from Tajikistan on major joint projects, including the completion of CASA-1000. Representatives of energy companies from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan also discussed measures to protect energy systems from accidents. Following the meeting, the parties signed a protocol on co-operation.
