A fair for domestic clothing products is being held in Bishkek

A fair for Kyrgyz clothing products has started in the capital's Old Square. Until 9 November, city residents will be able to purchase clothing from local manufacturers.

A fair of domestic clothing products is being held in the centre of Bishkek, organised by the Kyrgyz Tailors Association with the support of Kyrgyz Export under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic and the city mayor's office.

The event features companies showcasing a wide range of high-quality clothing and textiles produced in the country. Visitors can not only get acquainted with the work of local brands, but also purchase items they like directly from manufacturers without intermediaries and support local producers.

The organisers note that the aim of the fair is not just to sell, but to promote Kyrgyz products on the domestic and foreign markets, as well as to strengthen ties within the industry. According to them, such initiatives help to develop national production, create jobs and increase interest in the ‘Made in Kyrgyzstan’ brand.

The growing interest in domestic clothing is also confirmed by export figures. According to the Akchabar portal, in 2023, 2.35 million items of women's knitwear worth $6.89 million were exported from Kyrgyzstan. For comparison, in 2022, exports amounted to 1.76 million items worth $7.05 million. Thus, the physical volume of supplies has almost doubled, which indicates the growth of production capacity and the expansion of the sales geography of Kyrgyz manufacturers.
